Last updated: Saturday, March 7, 2010.
Apples - New season Gala apples are now available. PLEASE NOTE : Galas will turn soft and floury very quickly when exposed to any heat. So try to keep them away from oven / stoves or direct sunlight. For storage longer than a week they should be refrigerated.
Avocados - Their price is coming down thankfullly. We are buying the Shepard variety which is a green skinned. They are ready when they yield to gentle pressure.
Bananas - Their price has fallen slightly - now good quality.
Grapes - Green Seedless grapes are in season, as are Crimson Seedless. The Black Muscutt variey are the best for flavour, although they do contain small seeds.
Kiwifruit - The New Zealand and Australian seasons are over. Fruit is from Italy this time of year - very good quality.
Mangoes - Their season is pretty much over. There a some late season varieties still available but their eating quality is not the best.
Oranges - Valenicas are in season. Fresh and juicy - although not as sweet as a Navel.
Pineapples - Generally not in season this time of year.
Stonefruit - Nectarines, Plums and Peaches are very good. Tasmanian cherries and Apricots have finished.
Strawberries - Widespread heavy rain has significanltly affected the quality of strawberries. We won't be buying them until their quality improves - which will probably be towards the end of the month.
Watermelon (seedless) - Excellent quality and value.
All produce we source is Australian grown unless otherwise indicated. We only buy imported produce when there is no available Australian substitute. We never buy imported Oranges or Grapes. All imported products are labelled on the website.

Continuing widespead, heavy rain has affected the quality and price of many vegetable varieties. Anything green and leafy, such as English Spinach and Bok choy will tend to break down quite quicly - as the leaves are full of moisture.
Broccoli, Beans, Cauliflowers and Red Capsicums are all more expensive than is usual for this time of year - again due to the rain.
Locally grown Zucchinis, Cucumbers are in season, and are good value. Victorian snowpeas are also in season.
